Diversity and Equity in Hiring and Retention Practices 2-Part Series

Nonprofit organizations across the state are working with increasingly diverse communities. In order to better serve their communities, nonprofits need a staff that can identify with and reflect this diversity.

In this 2-part series, participants explore strategies to increase staff diversity, learn how to facilitate important conversations around race, and identify methods to cultivate a diverse workforce.

Part I: Culturally Relevant Practices - Thursday, October 5

Nonprofit agencies need a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities they serve. While most organizations are aware of this need, engaging in conversations about race and equity can be intimidating and overwhelming. Participants in this session will learn how best to approach conversations about race and diversity in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and retention practices.

Part II: Diverse Workforce Development - Thursday, October 12

Attendees are encouraged to review current practices in their workplace, identify areas for growth and change, and examine the benefits of a diverse workforce. In part two of this series, participants take a deeper dive into the impacts a racially diverse workforce has on agency culture, climate, and customer success.
