Managing the Employee Life Cycle as an HR Department of One!


The employee life cycle – managing an employee from recruiting through termination can be a daunting experience for a solo human resource professional in any organization.


As an HR Department of One there are many challenges that you face each day when dealing with employees.  This seminar will help to guide you through the morass of areas that you must deal with and help you to streamline, understand and add value to your organization’s human resource department.


Main Goal:

To help those individuals that are solo HR practitioners to understand how to manage their time and energy to create a Human Resource Department that has a credible reputation in their organization and is able to add value to that organization.


In this session you will review:

  • The Changing Face of Human Resources – What are the current trends?
  • What are the priorities for Human Resources to pay attention to?
  • What are the competencies that are important to possess to be successful?
  • Understand what the CEO, COO, Executive Director, etc. are looking for in their HR Expert in today’s world of work.
  • Building your credibility is one of the most important areas in Human Resources.  How should you work with managers, staff, vendors and any other people you come in contact?  You become the face of the organization in the many areas you work.
  • How can you take the HR Department to the next level?  What are some stellar HR practices that will help to make work easier on a day-to-day basis?How can you buy some time for yourself to be able to manage both the strategic and tactical pieces of your job?
  • Finally, you will learn some of the tips, tools and techniques needed to be a successful HR person.

The workshop will provide participants with key skills and tools, as well as participative activities with which to apply these skills and tools. Workshop materials will be provided for each participant.  There will be open discussion and review of current issues that the participants may be facing in their own organizations.
