In this presentation, you will learn the detailed steps that comprise the major gift process: identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward individual and family major gift donors. You will learn what motivates donors to make major gifts and how to approach family foundations. We will specifically cover suggested language to use when asking for an appointment, for a gift, as well as responding to a variety of donor responses.

About Sarah Shrewsbury


Sarah Shrewsbury has over two decades of experience, personally raising tens of millions of dollars for nationally recognized nonprofits from individuals and family foundations. She was a Major Gift Development Officer with Yale University (13 years), Mystic Seaport, The Nature Conservancy of CT, and AmeriCares.

 

In 2013, Sarah founded Vineyard Consulting to help nonprofit organization build or enhance their major gift fundraising operations. www.vineyard-consulting.com

 

Sarah graduated from Tufts University and is a former Board member of the Guilford Land Conservation Trust.
