Mindful Practice in Working with Members of the LGBTQI Community

 

Description:

This training will focus upon the many unique issues facing members of the LGBTQI community and the impact of those issues upon the treatment process. It is imperative for the practitioner to have an understanding of the diversity within the community as well as within each individual and their experiences.  Sociopolitical, legal, parenting, mental health, and substance use challenges will be reviewed to assist practitioners in creating an accepting and affirming space for the counseling and treatment process to occur.

 

Educational Objectives:

1. Review the definition of each of the member groups within the LGBTQI community.

2. Overview terminology specific to the community.

3. Discuss the history of the LGBTQI movement and its major leaders.

4. Outline challenges to members of the community in accessing effective treatment.

5. Discuss the imperative components of an inclusive and supportive model of intervention and treatment.

 

This program has been approved for Continuing Education Credit Hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal.


Attendees will be eligible for 5 CEC (Continuing Education Credits) credit hours.

Payment is due in full upon registration and enrollment will not be guaranteed until payment is received.

 

Refund Policy:

Once registered, you may request a full refund, or request your registration be transferred to another future training, up until 2 weeks before the date of the training. Within the 2 weeks prior to the training, we cannot process refunds or offer credit toward a future training, however you may substitute another attendee in your place at any time.

 

Lunch is not provided, but there will be an hour break for lunch with plenty of restaurant options nearby our Rocky Hill office.
