CEOs, Top Executives, and Board Members will learn how to promote your nonprofit and advance your policy agenda by getting your message out through the media. You'll learn about the rules of talking to the media, how to stay on message during press events, and deliver effective soundbites. This interactive session will provide you with skills to use in interviews with reporters for television, radio and print; in-depth interviews; and on Sunday morning television shows.

 

During our interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • Learn how to effectively promote your community nonprofit;
  • Be seen as an expert in your field;
  • Have more control during press interviews by understanding the rules of working with the media;
  • Develop media soundbites that get used and avoid being misquoted;
  • Feel prepared for any question;
  • Look, sound and feel great during interviews;
  • Transition from off-topic questions to on-message responses.

  

Presenter Information: 

  • Diane Smith is an Emmy award winning journalist, documentary producer, and NYTimes Bestseller. The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame honored Diane, and she was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle and the CT Journalism Hall of Fame.
  • Patty McQueen is an experienced communications strategist and media spokesperson with a background in politics, journalism and corporate communications. McQueen worked on two Presidential campaigns and inaugurations, and as a consultant for the Alliance.

 

Coffee and breakfast pastries will be served prior to the prompt 9:00am start. 

 

A light lunch will be served following the workshop.  

 

Registration Fee: 

$250 for Alliance Members

$295 for Not-Yet-Members

 

Payment is due in full upon registration and enrollment will not be guaranteed until payment is received.

 

Once registered, you may request a full refund, or request your registration be transferred to another future training, up until 2 weeks before the date of the training. Within the 2 weeks prior to the training, we cannot process refunds or offer credit toward a future training, however you may substitute another attendee in your place at any time.
