This program presents action steps that decision makers at organizations can adopt to be better prepared for emergencies. Learn 10 preparedness actions that you and your organization can take to help your organization remain open, or open quickly after emergencies.

 

This session targets leaders and decision makers of community-based organizations that want to prepare for disasters. There are 10 preparedness actions that organizations can take to remain prepared for disasters:

  1. Understand Risks
  2. Safeguard Critical Information
  3. Identify the People You Serve
  4. Mitigate Risks
  5. Establish a Communications Plan
  6. Determine Essential Activities
  7. Consider the Supply Chain
  8. Formalize Plans
  9. Regularly Test and Update Plans
  10. Cross-Train Key Individuals

This program helps community leaders:

  • Identify risks
  • Learn essential preparedness actions
  • Locate available resources to execute preparedness

 

The OPEN course introduces preparedness actions that can empower local agencies to take the necessary steps to prepare their organizations for incidents. The interactive course will feature small group discussions, and shared best practices from other participants.

 

After this session, participants will identify what steps to take to be better prepared as an organization, and take the most necessary steps.

 

Workshop materials will be provided after the presentation as a follow up:

  • Template to start building a business continuity plan
  • Document with hyper links to all resources mentioned
